The walking man always seems to recapture my attention and get me thinking.
A major foundational claim in relation to some of the leading theories in the Sherman murder probe relies on an over-familiarity on the part of the perpetrators.
Many suggest that those involved had inside knowledge of the house layout, entry points, schedules, contact whereabouts, etc.
In reality there are a lot of weird facts that remain unexplained. Their elucidation could explain the faults in some assumptions being made. A great example is the strange commentary provided by one of the Sherman’s service providers wherein a bizarre house showing with a faceless and voiceless potential virtual buyer is mentioned. In an eerie detail, Honey is said to have waved at the FaceTime caller, receiving no response in reply.
Here are some further details related to the estate showings leading up to the murders. They are from affidavit #5, appendix C.
There are many different subplots to the story, but one glaring area lacking scrutiny is the discrepancies between the private team’s probe and that of police. I’ve alluded to the front door tampering the former uncovered and the latter missed. What is up with that? Is that not a very curious detail in this case? How is it explained?
Custody of the house likely took the form of a seamless transition between the public and private teams. At least up until the private team was done with the actual examination, right? So this happened, the tampering. By someone before the Friday they were discovered? Is that right?
The house was also up for sale. I hate to say it, but another parallel to the Garland case. Here though the schematics and interior photos were easily available to any prying eyes searching online - as was news of the legal outcome with the cousins, and likely other things floating around Toronto in 2017. Sherman was very much in the press before he was killed.
All that to say, could the timing have been a fluke on the part of the killer? The Sherman schedules were relatively predictable, and if the suspicion around tracking is true, even more so. How’d police get on that theory by the way, given the lack of results from the tower dump effort?
The front door tampering is strange. Is it possible the walking man laid in wait for Honey to enter, then he entered through the front door, evading the alarm she likely would not have set given Barry’s expected early arrival home? Whatever happened on that ground floor seems key.
There is a lot of weird evidence that could constitute planning that remains wholly unexplained. Some of it would counter the evidence in favor of a perpetrator well-known to the Shermans, as in close enough to have access to their scheduler.
In the front door, and in the creepy FaceTime video, there is a story, too.
